Yin Yang circle 2 copy - Copy

I like to bang on about balance – but that doesn’t make me boring – does it? My version of balance is one of being centred when we are out there pursuing adventures or taking on challenges and when we are taking time out to reflect. Let me explain.

Spring Equinox sunrise

We got up for the sunrise to mark the Spring Equinox down-under. Sunrises are always worth getting up for. And its a great day to celebrate balance – the sun shines directly over the equator and the night and day are almost equal! Of course that will change tomorrow.

Peace through yoga and sometimes wine

Could there be such a thing? Too much peace! According to Miss Yin, 9, I’m a hog for serenity, a glutton for calm, even if the peace I crave is not exactly the noble end-to-all-wars variety. (of course I do wish for that, but my immediate needs are much closer to home). I’d sell my soul (and throw in the kids) … Read More

Yum dim sum

Celebrity and reality cooking shows are ‘an absolute phenomena’ in Australia (that’s if you ask the commercial television networks) – not so sure about elsewhere. The country where cuisine once comprised a meat pie washed down with a cold beer has gone all culinary, cordon bleu, a la carte, epicurean, gourmet, gastronomic and glutinous (no actually that last adjective just … Read More

And how rarely do we feel as though we might fly, actually … Read More

Goodbye Canada

Is it time to travel light through life? Last year, when we travelled to Canada to live for twelve months with our two adopted kids in tow, you can imagine we carried lots of baggage. Life is seldom a straightforward journey, especially as far as infertility and adoption are concerned.

Dealing with life’s ups and downs

Skiing lifes ups and downs

What goes up must come down, right? Call it the law of gravity. Up is pretty much the exact opposite of Down, can’t get more black and white or yin-yang than that – it’s a scientific fact, a universal principle of physics, or is it?
