Morning storm

Kathy Krugerchange, go with the flow3 Comments

It rumbles in, low and soft and soothing. I’m woken not by distant thunder or tapping rain, but a scared and spluttering son. He nestles in beside me in bed, coughing all over me, as a I cuddle away his fear and sickness.

Time for a cold shower – what do you REALLY want?

Kathy Krugerchange, perspective14 Comments

So I’ve come to the conclusion that the majority of people (well a fair few) who find me here at yinyangmother do so completely by accident when looking for someone (or something) entirely different. Mostly they come here when looking for a woman in the shower (not me, I’m fairly sure they wouldn’t be thrilled to see me in the … Read More

Unresolved – done with resolutions!

Kathy Krugerbalance, change, yinyang23 Comments

I am feeling unresolved this New Year. There are things that I should, could, will do (change) in 2014 yet I am not calling them resolutions. And I’m not planning on starting the New Year with a big bang that ends in a whimper. What about you? New Year feels like such an artificial time to change, to really change. … Read More

A very balanced Christmas

Kathy Krugerbalance, change, contentment, love, peace7 Comments

Tis the season for excess, balance hardly comes into it – right? While we make merry, we can make sure we avoid hangovers, of the headache, health and financial varieties, with a bit of balance. As usual it is not an exact thing – we don’t have to balance our egg with our nog equally, just try for some celebratory middle ground. … Read More

Change – it’s just a click away

So I’m writing this post using the on-screen access keyboard, and I may have had a couple of wines – I’m clearly a better typist than I’ve ever given myself credit form! 9( CAN’T TELL YOU HOW MANY MISTAKES I’VE MADE TYPING THIS, I’M NOTHING IF NOT DEDICATED) So, now for something to say as opposed to just type! I … Read More

Closing a chapter

Kathy Krugerchange, love16 Comments

The chapter has been closed, the book shut, and as much as I want it to be different, I can’t change the end of the story. I’m sad – there is no happily ever after to this tale. I’m sorry to be cryptic, but there are some things that are too personal to share, that would hurt others in the … Read More

Reframe things

Kathy Krugerchange, gratitude, perspective5 Comments

By Kathy Kruger Every minute of every day we take photos in our minds of how life ‘should be’ and compare them to the reality in front of us. My mind’s eye sees neatly folded clean clothes – the reality appears as a giant, unruly, bottomless pile of laundry waiting (endlessly) to be washed, hung out, taken off the line … Read More

Join the yin (r)evolution

Don’t you know, we’re talking ‘bout a revolution, sounds like a whisper. So sings Tracey Chapman in her 1988 classic even if she despairs of so much empty talk that isn’t heard and even though the poor people still don’t have their share. It’s an evolution. (unlike the new Abbott Cabinet here in Australia, which in terms of female representation, … Read More

It’s OK to grow slow

Kathy Krugerchange, fear, yinyang17 Comments

Spring – the season for growth. Green shoots and blossoming flowers and fresh perfume in the air. It sort of smells like a positive affirmation (I imagine). In reality, a lot of sun (yang) and water (yin) are required along with a positive attitude in order to flourish. I start this, my first post of Spring, and the page is … Read More

The bright side of a ‘bad’ blog

Kathy Krugerbalance, change, contentment, perspective, yinyang21 Comments

We’ve all known a Negative Nancy or in my case a pessimistic pain in the butt, a guy I used to work with who tried to make everyone’s life miserable, because he made a misery of his. You’d look up on a blue-sky day and this guy would find the showers forecast for next week and complain about them. There was never a brighter future, a … Read More

Mid-winter madness (this is not a sale)

Kathy Krugerchange, go with the flow15 Comments

Today is the shortest day of the year, if you live in the southern hemisphere. If you live in the northern hemisphere then the summer solstice signals warmer weather ahead (thank goodness I can hear you sigh). For me the darkness feels like a turning inward, a retreat from life, and maybe there is such a thing as a madness … Read More

Attack of the horrormones

Kathy Krugerbalance, change, fear, IVF, motherhood, yinyang10 Comments

Watch out world!  I’m suffering an attack of the ‘horrormones’ and I can’t be held responsible for who I attack as a result. Well that’s my excuse anyway. (Horrormones are hormones on steroids – I came across this non-medical but perfectly accurate term when we were doing IVF and I was partaking of lovely hormonal cocktail each cycle – well actually … Read More
