So this is not a fire safety instruction you should follow, but it is what I feel liking doing – just stopping, dropping, flopping – feeling a bit burnt out by the first half of the year. Burnt out with blogging – as my efforts aren’t exactly setting the world alight. Burnt out by the rush and stress that is the … Read More
I ran the words like a mantra in my mind, rolling like a yoga Vinyasa flow sequence – each word running effortlessly into the next, the sentiment slipstreaming and surging into a strong statement, building into a belief, a certain conviction – YES. It is. I can. And I will. And I could. And I did. Hold a strong, mighty … Read More
Call it the law of gravity. Up is pretty much the exact opposite of Down, can’t get more black and white or yin-yang than that – it’s a scientific fact, a universal principle of physics, or is it?
At the moment I’m being tortured (or is that too strong a word?) to the tune of ‘Let it go’ from Disney’s hit movie Frozen. (Ok – I know it’s a common complaint, but here I stand, well write anyway). My torturer is very cute though (as I’m sure yours is) – in my case our four-year-old son is rather … Read More
Do you wait until you have all the pieces of the puzzle until you start? Would you ever begin? Do you know where you are heading before you set off in the direction you want to go, or do you step (bravely) towards your soul’s calling without knowing the destination?
I’ve always loved the Bryan Ferry song, Dance with Life and the idea that we partner with God or the Universe to choreograph our own dance and join in love with human partners to move in rhythm together. I especially love contemporary (modern ballet) as the ultimate emotional expression of life’s joys and sorrows. I love its fluidity and rawness.
It rumbles in, low and soft and soothing. I’m woken not by distant thunder or tapping rain, but a scared and spluttering son. He nestles in beside me in bed, coughing all over me, as a I cuddle away his fear and sickness.
Two little words that have such power to leave you languishing in limbo, stuck between past and future, rather than open to the present. It’s funny when the present is right here and now, how it can seem so hard to find!
When we think of mood swings we usually imagine crazy hormonal women, oscillating between normal and nice, and raving mad (I just look in the mirror). But (within reason) mood swings are part of finding balance. NO REALLY.
Sorry to start on a downer, but Easter has rarely been entirely memorable for all the right reasons for me (you know family, relaxing times, friends, good food, just the right amount of good quality chocolate). It’s not that I’ve never had a ‘good’ Easter, but the memories feel few amidst the mostly ‘bland’ and some downright not-so-good Easters. We … Read More
The first song on shuffle is Mad Season – I laugh because life feels like that – with work, school, birthdays, the general ‘busyness’ of life, and curve balls coming at me left, right and centre. What season of life is not mad? Matchbox 20 your are right, ‘I feel stupid…I’m lost and I’m hopeless.’ Well at least some of … Read More
The sun rises, and later on it sets and then it rises again. In between is life, or OH-OH!! I’ll take life any day (or night). I’ll take the sun and the stars and the moon too. I’m off to Japan, the land of the rising sun (pinch me I’m on holidays, pinch me again). Did I mention I’m on holidays! … Read More
