Gifts for the twelve days of Christmas

For the famous 12 days of Christmas, I’ve worked up my ‘wish list’ for my true love (and/or the universe), and I’d love to be just as generous to him – he deserves his wishes (well most of the time).
Thanks Mr Yang for being there, with me and for me, during a happy, challenging, frustrating, joyful year (ie just another year).
So get your fa,la,la,la,lah’s going and let’s sing an ode, to Christmas and true love!

poinsettia-christmas-tree-1303836563WVROn the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, freedom to be who I want to be.

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me, three words of affection (I love you), two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, six special surprises (breakfast in bed, movie tickets, unexpected praise, a flower from the garden, note in my lunch box and a two week holiday to a secluded tropical island, just the two of us, with crystal-clear water, squeaky soft white sand, bountiful seafood, dolphins playing and nothing to do but swim, snorkel, lie on the beach, yoga on the beach, walk, talk, read, write, eat and drink and have lots of great sex!), five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me, seven second chances, six special surprises, five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, eight words of encouragement (believe in yourself, YOU CAN DO IT, smile), seven second chances, six special surprises, five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, nine lives to live well (as a wife, lover, mother, daughter, sister, friend, Aunt, writer and passionate person), eight words of encouragement, seven second chances, six special surprises, five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, ten times the love I’d ever dreamed of (or felt I deserved), nine lives to live well, eight words of encouragement, seven second chances, six special surprises, five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me, eleven easy options (just relax, you are enough already, help is at hand, failure is fine, there is no deadline, just enjoy the discovery, you are not alone, responsibility is shared, let’s just get take-away, the pressure is off, the universe knows best), ten times the love I’d ever dreamed of, nine lives to live well, eight words of encouragement, seven second chances, six special surprises, five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me, twelve dreams to dare (to publish a book or two, to do work that makes a difference in the world, to raise happy, healthy, caring and resilient children, to write for a living, to travel to special places and come home wiser, to travel and volunteer in sad and poor places and come home happier and so much richer, an end to slavery and child trafficking, an end to child poverty, an end to all poverty, a more conscious, spiritual, sustainable world, an easy car park at the shopping centre at Christmas and to grow old with my true love), eleven easy options, ten times the love I’d ever dreamed of, nine lives to live well, eight words of encouragement, seven second chances, six special surprises, five stolen kisses, four offers of forgiveness, three words of affection, two ears to listen and freedom to be who I want to be.

Well that’s it – not a lot to ask for really! Love to know what’s on your wish list.

And if we don’t connect again before Christmas, may your wishes come as true as your love. Linking up with the lovely Grace.

That is so sweet! I was bopping along as I read that. Forget Dami winning the X-Factor! I’d love to see you up on stage singing this 🙂
