Just swing into 2015

The breeze tickles my face and I have tickles in my stomach too. I’m rocking back and forth, seesawing on the kid’s swing, and then I let myself swing a little higher, as I watch stars sneak out from behind marshmallow puffs of clouds into inky black patches of sky. It feels like I’m swinging on a star.

I’ve just finished writing another regular post for Do You Yoga and I could be watching Stephen Hawking explain the universe, as he does, but I have only enough brainpower left tonight to fit into his little toe, so I’m passing on such universal wisdom.

I could be wrapping Christmas presents, only I don’t really have the presence for that either – not to really appreciate a sense of anticipation at the looks on the faces of my kids and my nieces and nephews as they open the gifts with the wide-eyed wonder of children (or some look resembling such fabled enthusiasm, a mumbled thanks will do!).

Christmas hasn’t stopped but I’m off the merry rollercoaster, for tonight at least, just swinging in the breeze.

This year’s santa photo – chopped off the 2014 in my photo of the photo!

I’m sure you don’t need my urging, but if you can, swing through the festive season and right on into 2015.

Let your heart be light.

Let your soul soar and don’t worry about that grumpy family member for whom nothing and no-one is ever good enough.

Don’t stress (you may have read my advice last week that you can’t actually be stressed while singing a Christmas Carol. Sing a Christmas carol, or two, or three.

Draw a Christmas mandala – I’m continuing my mandala theme with this one I drew at a yin yoga workshop last Friday night (funny, as I posted to my FB friends, to be doing yoga instead of partying on the Friday night before Christmas – but I wouldn’t want to have been anywhere else).

mandala drawing

I’ll be posting more on the amazing restorative benefits of yin yoga in the New Year, and doing some more mandala drawing in 2015.

I’ll be breathing – I think I’ve decided ‘breathe’ is my word for next year – it feels like I can breathe life into new things, breathe through challenges, breathe to calm and breathe to energise – as long as we are conscious, we can breathe to truly live.

So breathe. Swing.

Let you heart be light.

And have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, now. Linking up with Jess for a Christmas IBOT.

PS: Here is a Christmas tree meditation I made a couple of years ago.

Some lovely advice here, particularly not to let other family members get you down, but rather focus on the ones most dear. ‘Breathe’ is a great mantra for 2015 – I haven’t rolled out the mat as much I would like lately so that’s something I definitely need to focus on – but it’s also important to bring that connection into your overall life. Thank you and have a lovely Christmas.

You have yourself a merry little Christmas too, Kathy. Enjoy your time with your family and take care of you. I love the word breathe. It is something I’m definitely trying to do a little more of 🙂 #teamIBOT
